WINDOWS 7 (50 hours)
This course prepares students for MS 70-680 certification exams with instructions on how to operate in computing environments that use Microsoft Windows 7 as a desktop operating system in an enterprise environment. These will be the first Microsoft training course in the IT field, as well as an experience in implementing and administering Windows 7 in a networked environment.2
MS - WORD (LEVEL I) (30 hours)
Students learn to create, edit, print, and enhance documents from the simplest letter to the most complex manuscript. It will also cover advanced formatting techniques, how to use tables and graphs, and the creation of styles and templates. You will learn how to automate your work, create columns, and use drawing tools.3
MS - EXCEL (LEVEL I) (30 hours)
Students learn the basic concepts needed to run fully integrated spreadsheet software programs, to create and calculate with formulas, use charts, and create/print reports.4
MS Ė POWERPOINT (30 hours)
Students will learn to create presentations. They will also learn how to customize a presentation, work with graphs, tables, clip art, and organizational charts.5
MS - OUTLOOK (LEVEL I) (30 hours)
In todayís fast-paced office, e-communications is essential to the communication and exchange of vital information and ideas. Students will learn how to work with the inbox, use folders to manage mail, as well as mail features. Maintaining appointments, scheduling, task tracking, maintaining and generating contact information and reminders is also explained.6
ADVANCED APPLICATIONS (30 hours)
The Advanced Application classes are intended to further develop the studentís knowledge of the PC applications covered earlier in the program. In MS-Word, students will learn merging and graphics. In MS-Excel, students are taught linking, database field input, and forms. In Web Design, student gain additional insights into HTML and the mechanics of web design.7
KEYBOARDING / COMPUTER LAB (140 hours)
Proper keyboarding techniques and principles are developed to maintain a high level of accuracy while building speed. After achieving proficiency in skill building, students progress to formatting activities which include business letters, tabulated reports and multi-page manuscripts. (Computer Lab: Students who are meeting their progressive keyboarding goals will have the opportunity to use Lab class time to work on or practice other application class assignments. Computer Lab time may also be used for Advanced Applications instruction and certification preparation.)8
MS Windows Server Directory (95 hours)
Students will be trained in the skills needed by information technology (IT) professionals to work in a complex computing environment of medium to large companies. Students will experience implementing and administering Windows Server 2008 R2 in an environment that has the following characteristics: Excessive users, multiple physical locations, multiple domain controllers, and Network services.9
MS Network Infrastructure (60 hours)
Students will obtain knowledge and skill to implement windows networking technology. Students will experience implementing and administering Windows Server 2008 R2 in an environment that has the following characteristics: Excessive users, multiple physical locations, multiple domain controllers, and Network services.10
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT & CAREER PLANNING (30 hours)
Students are taught the necessary job hunting skills and strategies needed to successfully compete in the job market. Resume preparation, interviewing techniques, etc. are also covered.11
BUSINESS MANAGEMENT (30 hours)
This course teaches students the basics of management. Students learn functions of planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling. Special emphasis is placed on the managerís role and cases are presented and discussed in class.12
MS Windows Server Administrator (60 hours)
This course will provide an overview of a server administratorís responsibility for the operations and day-to-day management of an infrastructure of Windows Server 2008 R2 servers for an enterprise organization. Windows server administrators manage the infrastructure, Web, and IT application servers. They also use scripts and batch files written by others or those that they occasionally write themselves to accomplish tasks on a regular basis.13
WEB DESIGN I (30 hours)
Students focus on a hands-on introduction to web design by using website design software, such as Dreamweaver. Students will create a website and work with adding animation image maps, rollovers and animated GIFs.14
INTERNET MARKETING (30 hours)
This course introduces students to the rapidly-growing field of Internet Marketing. Organizations of all sizes are increasingly using the internet as their primary marketing, communication and customer acquisition channel. Students will learn about Search Engine Marketing, Pay-Per-Click Campaigns, Search Engine Optimization and the importance of Social Media as a marketing tool.15
CompTIA A+ (100 hours)
This course prepares the student for a career as an entry-level information technology (IT) professional, the CompTIA A+ Certification course is the first step. The course will be built upon user-level knowledge and experience with personal computer software and hardware to present fundamental skills and concepts that the student will use on the job. In this course, students will acquire the essential skills and information that is needed to install, upgrade, repair, configure, troubleshoot, optimize, and perform preventative maintenance of basic personal computer hardware and operating systems.16
CompTIA Network+ (90 hours)
This course will provide training for computer networking and the foundation-level skills needed to install, operate, manage, maintain, and troubleshoot a corporate network. This course will help prepare students for the CompTIA Network+ certification exam.17
CompTIA Security+ (80 hours)
In this course students will be trained on CompTIA's Security+. Security plus is a vendor-neutral course. The Security Plus provides training on communication security, infrastructure security, cryptography, operational security, and general security concepts. The CompTIA Security+ Certification Training Course provides Students with knowledge and skills needed to protect enterprise IT infrastructure from the theft or destruction of information or disruption of communication.18
CompTIA Linux+ (75 hours)
CompTIA's Linux+ is a vendor-neutral course that trains students with knowledge for practical Linux administration and experience. In this course students will learn to manage Linux-based clients and basic management of server systems. Students will learn the knowledge and tools necessary to manage Linux systems from the command line, as well as how to manage user administration, file permissions, software configurations, and Linux-based clients, server systems and security.19
Cisco Certified Network Associate (100 hours)
This course provides Students with training on fundamental computer networking concepts and how to apply these skills to configure a LAN/WAN network using Cisco devices such as routers and Catalyst switches. During this course students are given hands on practice, lectures, discussions, demonstrations, exercises, and laboratory projects. This course will help prepare students for the CCNA certification exam.
